Polar Plunge

The Special Olympics DC Polar Plunge provides a fun, festive atmosphere with music, refreshments and parades of plungers in costume for all to enjoy. Pools are erected at Nationals Park, ready for all to take the plunge!

Participants are encouraged to register as either individuals or join or create a team of family, friends or colleagues to inspire friendly competition and show your collective support for the athletes of Special Olympics DC!

All participants will receive a free t-shirt and have a personalized fundraising page to help encourage support in the weeks leading up to the event.  To join in the fun, participants must raise at least $100.  Age 12 and up can plunge, under 18 with parent or guardian’s permission.

Media Day with D.C. United


Join Us in Welcoming our 2017 D.C. United/Special Olympics DC Unified Soccer Team!

On Thursday, July 13 at 3:30pm, D.C. United and Special Olympics DC will announce its 2017 D.C. United Special Olympics D.C. Unified Soccer team. 17 players will sign a D.C. United contract with D.C. United representatives welcoming them to the team. Following the contract signing, D.C. United players and coaches will be available for autographs and photos with event participants.

The event will be live streamed via Facebook live! Tune in to see the players as they sign their contracts with D.C. United’s Head Coach Ben Olsen!




D.C. United to host 2017 Special Olympics D.C. Unified Tryouts

On Thursday (June, 22nd) D.C. United are hosting open tryouts for the 2017 D.C. United Special Olympics DC (SODC) Unified Soccer Team on Thursday, June 22, at the RFK Auxiliary Fields, beginning at 4:30 PM.

The D.C. United SODC Unified Soccer Team Exchange program is a partnership between Major League Soccer, D.C. United and Special Olympics DC that brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 16-20, together as teammates to participate in unique training, competition and social experiences.
