Adding to an exciting All-Star Weekend in the District, on Tuesday, July 18th at the Major League Soccer (MLS) Skills Challenge, MLS Works and Arsenal presented Special Olympics DC with a donation for $25,000.

As part of the Skills Challenge, Arsenal and All-Stars from MLS competed against each other in soccer skill challenges. Arsenal played representing Special Olympics DC, while MLS represented local nonprofit DC Scores. As Arsenal took an early lead, excitement grew among the crowd of Special Olympics DC staff, fans, and athletes in attendance. The MLS All-Stars came back with a vengeance, all but tying up the game — in the end, Arsenal took home the win, winning $25,000 for Special Olympics DC! Everyone wins: DC Scores also received a donation from MLS for their programming.

Special Olympics DC CEO Nicole Preston accepted the check alongside MLS Youth Unified All-Stars Teon and Edgar, on Audi Field at the end of the Skills Challenge. We are so grateful for Major League Soccer’s commitment to inclusion in sport within the DC community.
