Night of Trees Gala

The Night of Trees Gala is a Washington holiday tradition that raises funds in support of Special Olympics athletes in the District. For thirty-five years, the Gala has been Special Olympics DC’s premier event attended by business executives, professional athletes, philanthropists, and other prominent community leaders, brought together by their passion for sports and desire to create a more inclusive community for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Night of Trees Gala

The Night of Trees is named for the twelve themed holiday trees, custom-decorated by local artists and designers. The trees are auctioned to highest bidders, and delivered to their homes or offices to remind them of their good works and generosity throughout the season.
The evening begins with a champagne cocktail hour, then dining and an inspiring program, followed by dancing to a live band. Hundreds of items are available through the silent auctions, as well as the opportunity to sponsor athletes to participate in competitions both here and abroad. Guests bid on exciting items in the live auction including professional sporting event packages, vacation getaways to Europe, Africa or the Caribbean and more.

The Gala funds the Special Olympics DC winter season of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities: speed skating, bowling and basketball, as well as our health and inclusion programs.
