Thanks to donations from individuals, organizations and companies, all Special Olympics DC athletes participate at no cost, including travel to national and international games for those who qualify.

Donate to Special Olympics DC

This is a life-changing benefit for those athletes who would not otherwise be able to participate:

  • An estimated 35% – 40% of Special Olympics D.C. athletes fall at or below the poverty line
  • More than 60% come from single parent households

Donations to Special Olympics DC fund sports, health and inclusion programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the year.  Here are just a few examples:

  • $1,000 Travel and lodging to compete in the USA Games per athlete
  • $750 Cost for 6-week summer tennis training
  • $500 Two hours basketball gym rental
  • $350 Cost for one athlete to train for and compete in Summer Games
